WHAT STOPS A WOMAN FROM WORKING OUT?

A recent Daily Mail article included a short piece on how millions of women are “not taking enough exercise because they are afraid of being judged”.

Whilst this is a real tragedy, I can completely understand that. For some reason most exercise wear is tight, designed for people who are fit (racing backs, stripes in odd places) and great at accenting the bits that none of us really want attention drawn to. If you couple this with a body that’s carrying more pounds than we would wish for then it’s a combination that makes for an unappealing outing.

The only two things that make a difference to your shape

However, there are two things that make a difference to your shape, exercise and diet. Exercise is not only a great help for weight loss, but is essential for general good health, the current advice being 2.5 hours of exercise per week for women. How you get that exercise is your choice, but here’s what I’d say about my35:

  • No mirrors – what a relief, none of need a reminder of how we look when hot, sweaty and hair tied back
  • Similar people to us working out – most of our members are looking to achieve weight loss and the average member age is 49, so no gym bunnies on the kit next to us!
  • Non-judgmental environment – I’ve never heard a member of staff in public nor private ever comment on a member and how they look other than what great progress individuals are making


You still have to wear exercise clothing to work out at my35, but it’s one of the least judgmental environments I’ve worked in. Why not come in and find out for yourself?
